Wicklow Day Tour
€35 / per person*
Our day will begin with a visit to Glendalough, or the Glen of two Lakes which is one of the most important sites of monastic ruins in Ireland. Famed for its rounds towers, and Celtic crosses this site will provide you with a true insight into the workings of an early Christian monastery in Ireland.
After our visit to Glendalough, we will take the truly awe-inspiring route to Powerscourt House and Gardens by way of the Sally Gap. This is one of the two east to west passes across the Wicklow Mountains. Passing over the Luggula Estate and over Lough Tay and Lough Dan, the Sally Gap will offer you spectacular views of the Wicklow mountains.
Upon arrival at Powerscourt, you will have worked up a healthy appetite. Lunch will then be the first thing on our list in The Avoca Terrace Café in Powerscourt. It offers an amazing setting for what is surely one of the most dramatic vistas in Ireland. The café has an expansive garden terrace with a simply breath-talking panorama of the gardens against the backdrop of the famous Sugarloaf Mountain.
There is 800 Years of history at Powerscourt and Gardens and the afternoon is yours to explore it. Powerscourt House today is home to the best of Irish design in gifts, clothes, and furniture. It was recently voted as one of the top ten Houses and Mansions Worldwide by the Lonely Planet Guide and voted 3rd best garden in the World by National Geographic.
